National Drug Take Back Day April 2025
Safely Dispose of Unused Medications
Properly disposing of unused or expired medications keeps them out of the hands of children, teens, and other vulnerable populations. Safe disposal helps prevent accidental poisonings, misuse, and illegal sharing. Never share your medications with anyone.

#StartWithOneRx Campaign

The Get the Facts Rx campaign, led by the Washington State Health Care Authority, raises awareness about the dangers of prescription drug misuse. It provides practical guidance on safe storage, responsible use, and proper disposal of medications. By following these steps, families can help protect youth and prevent opioid misuse in their communities.
How You Can Help
You can make a difference in your home and community by taking simple steps to prevent medication misuse and keep our youth safe:
- Safely Store Medications: Keep all medications locked up and out of reach of children, teens, and other vulnerable populations.
- Never Share Medications: Prescription medications are prescribed for a single individual and can be dangerous if shared.
- Talk to Your Kids: Start conversations about the dangers of medication misuse, opioids, and alcohol. Encourage them to ask questions and speak up if they see unsafe use.
- Spread the Word: Tell family, friends, and neighbors about safe medication disposal and storage options in our community.
- Dispose of Unused Medications: Bring expired or unneeded medications to drop-off locations or use mail-back programs. Visit medtakebackwashington.org for details in Washington State.
